. . : : Cross words and camping : : . .
My sister recently gave me a pocket crossword book. She's been carrying one for years now, and on a recent family trip we all had a pretty good time hanging out at the end of the day, working through a couple of crosswords. They aren't difficult ones, mostly easy clues with a couple of headscratchers per puzzle, they are very satisfying.

So mine has been coming with me everywhere since. I travel by train a fair bit so it's been perfect for these journeys. But I've also started taking it with me when I go hiking and camping.

I usually don't carry any 'entertainment' with me when I'm out, apart from an audio book downloaded onto my phone in case I'm struggling to sleep.
On this trip my partner was testing out some gear before a long distance trail she's starting soon so we were in separate shelters. The first day was pretty wet and it rained most of the evening so we were confined to our tarps. But it was pretty funny yelling crossword clues to her over the weather. Thankfully the morning was sunny so we got a change to dry out a little before the weather rolled back in.
